I had a realization as I was running yesterday morning. It was 6:30(ish) when I left the house and it was pitch black out. I was be-bopping along and realized – I was going to have to pull some fancy footwork in order to get all my miles in on lit paths/streets! Oh MAAAANNN! Crap, I guess it’s time to come up with some winter running routes that are safe enough for little old me to run in the dark, alone, early in the morning. Bummer. I also realized it’s time for me to hit up a running shop of some sort and get some better reflective gear – and maybe a flashlight of some sort. I really don’t want to get run over by a car or a bike. That would seriously put a cramp in the whole running thing.
I’d totally welcome any suggestions for good gear! It’s not cold yet (knock on wood), so I’m not worried about layers and all that for now. Just stuff to keep me safe! And I guess this weekend I’m going to need to go out and scope out some running routes that I can start incorporating next week. For now I just run down one side of the street and up the other. It’s boring, but it works. It helps that I’m tapering for the marathon, so don’t have to run very far right now….
Ugh. Running in the dark. Good times.
